2024 Annual Appeal
Grace and peace to you from our Savior Jesus the Christ!
I have been slowly reading through the New Testament recently. I've been struck by the boldness by which the writer of Ephesians begs the church "to lead a life worthy of the call to which you have been called." (Ephesians 4:1)
Throughout this letter, the church's call pays attention to the many gifts each person brings to build up the body of Christ. The church's call remains united in the Spirit as we support one another in love and peace and grow together in maturity by speaking the truth in love.
By God's grace and through God's call, the Western North Dakota Synod exists because of the prayerful financial support of congregations (mission support), an ELCA grant (support for the Director of Evangelical Mission on synod staff), and individual donors (Annual Appeal). Without these three areas of financial support, it would not be possible for our synod to walk with congregations in times of transition or conflict; to provide support to seminary students and ordained rostered ministers; to offer dozens of learning events that support lay leadership and synod authorized ministers; or our four Bible camps. Additionally, we would not be able to build teams who have been called to creatively and strategically think about where God is calling this church next in all areas of our shared mission and ministry.
For many years, the Annual Appeal has been an opportunity for friends in Christ from across our synod to share a financial gift to support the ministry and mission we share together in Christ that blesses neighbors in local congregations and communities, across national denominations and the global church, and in every corner of God's good creation.

Congregational Giving
Congregational Mission Support is a portion of a congregation’s weekly financial offering that is shared with the synod. Mission Support blesses God’s work happening across our synod and in every corner of the world. Mission Support is the most important part of financial support to our synod’s mission and ministry. Simply stated, without Congregational Mission Support, the Western North Dakota Synod would cease to exist.
