The Sweet Deal for C.A.R. Fundraiser

The sweet deal for C.A.R fundraiser is back!

During worship, your congregation may distribute a tube of M&Ms to each family to enjoy, inviting them to return the tube with a check inside made out to the church, or some bills or quarters as they are inspired to give. If you have plenty of tubes, it may also be a fun Sunday School project.

You may want to set a financial goal such as a Good Gifts item, a Display with details, and attach a Label to each tube as a reminder.

Contact Matthew to reserve your M&M tubes, for more details, or to brainstorm. Thanks to a grant from the endowment of Good Shepherd Lutheran in Bismarck, a quantity of tubes will be available for distribution at Assembly.

Safe water access

Lack of access to safe water is one of the biggest challenges to overcoming poverty. It’s also one of the most powerful opportunities to create change.  A simple water well or other water point can help as many as 500 families gain access to clean, safe water. We would like see how many $2,500 wells we provide for through the church in C.A.R.

Sharing God’s love starts with caring for the physical needs of God’s children. When we hear others will know we are Christian by our love, we sure know that helping care for them is essential to showing that love. The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Central African Republic (ELC-CAR) uses funds to care for folks with so many basic needs we do not even consider.

• Physical: The clinic in Galo heals so many who otherwise may not have even basic health care.
• Mental: Starting new primary schools in towns where kids would otherwise not be in school.
• Spiritual: Putting a roof on a church wall that was manually constructed by the local Lutherans.

Gathered funds will be submitted to the Western ND Synod office. The staff there are in contact with the ELC-CAR and forward funds periodically.
