The Western North Dakota Synodical Women’s organization and the WND SWO Board is pleased to give nine women from Western North Dakota who are currently enrolled in an ELCA seminary programs a monetary gift from the W.I.S.E. (Women in Seminary Education) Fund. The money that grows this fund is given by ELCA women living in Western North Dakota who want to support and show their appreciation to these women. The total scholarship amount to be disbursed was $7,600.00.
The following women received a portion of this dollar amount:
Students attending Wartburg Theological Seminary: Bethany Haberstroh (Leith, ND), Gail Hagerty (Bismarck, ND), and Kayla Hill (Dubuque, Iowa)
Students attending Luther Seminary: Kim Gifford (Minot, ND), Janie Hague (Mandan ND), and Annie Langseth (St Paul, MN).
Students attending Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary: Dominique McFall (Bismarck, ND )who is currently on internship in Slovakia.
Also supported were recently ordained Rev. Susan Anderson (Napoleon, ND) and Erin Gullickson (Benedict, ND) who will be ordained in January.
Each year the W.I.S.E. fund is depleted for scholarships for the upcoming school year, but the fund’s policy states that each year, through donations from individuals, units, and clusters, the fund will be renewed and scholarships again shared. With this year’s gifts, $56,775 has been shared with women from our synod attending seminary – many of whom continue to serve in Western North Dakota congregations.
The Western North Dakota Women of the ELCA are so proud of these ladies and encourage participation in growing the W.I.S.E. Fund. All contributions can be sent to Women of Western North Dakota (W.I.S.E. Fund) and sent to Cheryl Lacey, treasurer (4111 85th Ave NW New Town, ND 58763.)
