In July, approximately 45 ladies from the Western North Dakota Synodical Women’s Organization (Women of the ELCA) attended the Ninth Triennial Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. Under the theme, “of many generations”, the Triennial had five ladies of 90+ years young! With infants in attendance, six generations of women enjoyed the gathering.
The keynote speakers included Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton. Additionally, speakersBecca Stevens and Susan Sparks kept us laughing and the tears rolling with their wonderful humor and sad stories of those they encounter. The ELCA’s Global Mission Unit’s Glocal musicians provided music throughout the convention. The business of the convention included elections and passing a budget.
Many WND attendees took prayer shawls that were to be distributed to women in the Charlotte area. The in kind gifts were many and much appreciated. As is the custom at these gatherings, each Synod’s delegation brings items to trade and a small gift to share with others in attendance. The Western North Dakota women traded small, handmade lapel pins and gave bags of North Dakota grown sunflower seeds. More on 2014
