Once again our synod will be raising funds for ministry efforts in our companion synod, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Central African Republic. The funds raised right now are more important than ever.
As the Central African Republic is in the midst of political upheaval, the church continues to be at work, serving those most in need and offering a voice of peace. The funds raised will be essential in helping to support and if needed re-establish some of the important ministries of this church once peace returns.
The Sweet Deal project is a great one for lent or a special project for you congregation, Sunday School or Women’s group. You can pick up boxes of M & M Minis from the synod office to distribute to members of your congregation. Each box has 24 tubes of candy. As you distribute the candy, invite the recipients to enjoy the Minis, and return the tubes filled with quarters. Each tube holds approximately $14. Bring a check to synod assembly for the amount raised and we’ll celebrate the gift gathered for our partners in ministry in the Central African Republic. Reserve your boxes of M&M Minis by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 701-223-5312.
In the past, funds raised have assisted with educational and vocational scholarships for women, building primary schools and churches, scholarships for seminarians and evangelists, support for the Gallo Clinic and clean water projects. During this time of unrest your funds are even more important. Funds raised will assist the local church in humanitarian response and rebuilding.
