Relationships created during the Bakken Oil Boom continue to flourish despite the oil slowdown and departure of people. Wilmington Lutheran Church in Arnegard welcomed new faces during those times, one of them Manuel Cabrera from a village northwest of Mexico City. A regular at worship, Manuel said Wilmington was his “second family” and he became an integral part of worship. As we learned more about him, Manuel shared about his impoverished village and their need for a fire truck.
The Arnegard Fire Department was purchasing a new fire truck, and through the joint efforts of Pastor Dan Paulson, Cameron Arnegard, and brothers Jim and Harold Larson, who are volunteer firemen, a decision was made.
Through Wilmington’s financial benevolence, Pastor Dan and Cameron delivered the donated 2,000-gallon tanker truck to Dallas, TX, in late October. Upon completion of border custom procedure, it will reach its destination of Jacona, Mexico. As that community anticipates its new fire truck, we give thanks to God!
