Synod Congregation Selected as Stop for the International Peace Light of Bethlehem

Share

Toronto-PeaceLightThe international Peace Light of Bethlehem shared by millions around the world will be available in Lincoln on December 14, 2014 at 7 pm.  Each year, the light is passed from hand–to–hand in the name of peace. The chain begins when a child lights a candle at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Then, the Peace Light travels to Vienna, Austria, where it is distributed by people of faith, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, union members and government officials. Passing through New York and Chicago, the Peace Light will move along the I-90/I-94 corridor over the next weeks. As it spreads, the light demonstrates how peace, too, can be cultivated by people of goodwill.  The Peace Light will be offered at a welcoming, inclusive, ecumenical event, inviting everyone to commit to working for peace in their communities and world. Participants are invited to bring canned goods for local food bank or monetary donations for Community Action and a lantern (smokeless paraffin) or enclosed candle in order to take the Peace Light of Bethlehem home with them.  Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 7 pm  Peace Lutheran Church of Lincoln  3310 66th Street SE, Bismarck, ND 58504
