Fair Trade Sunday –
As people of faith, we have the opportunity to live our values in all that we do, including our consumer choices. Acknowledging that the money we spend every day affects the lives of our brothers and sisters around the world and the planet we steward, the Sending Team has designated Sunday, October 1 as Fair Trade Sunday. Businesses that employ Fair Trade practices empower disadvantaged producers, promote community development, promote safe working conditions, prohibit child and forced labor, and respect the environment.
Congregations are especially encouraged to serve Fair Trade coffee during fellowship on this Sunday and report how many cups were served to the Sending Team: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional ideas to observe Fair Trade Sunday and promote Fair Trade in your congregation:
- Offer a special prayer for harvest, vocation, and Fair Trade relationships
