The Williston Area Lutheran Mission Strategy Team was formed in 2014 to address the needs of the fast growing community of Greater Williston. The team considered the challenges currently faced by the community and determined the issue they were called to work on is building relationships.
There are three parts to this issue:
- Helping long-time residents get to know those who are new to our community.
- Helping congregations, business leaders, city leaders and social service agencies form partnerships to help those in need.
- Helping those who are new to our community adjust to their new context and become members of our community.
The team believes strongly that if the community can be united to serve people of all socioeconomic levels than the Williston area can become a community where everyone is valued. Building these relationships will help bring a renewed sense of hope for the future of Greater Williston. The team adopted a title for the ministry that would be easily be understood throughout the community: Community Connections. Our ministry’s mission is, “Working together to be a community where all people are valued.” In September, a Diaconal Minister was called to coordinate the efforts of this new ministry.
Lynea Geinert, Diaconal Minister, will be installed Saturday, December 13, 2014 at First Lutheran Church, 916 Main Street, Williston, ND. A Worship Service with Installation will be held at 4:00 p.m. with a reception following at 5:00 p.m. The community is invited to join in celebrating Lynea’s Installation and the launch of this new ministry in Williston.
