A Ranch Mission Trip

story submitted by Rev. Bill Wagner, Hazen

On April 24-27, 2014 nine folks from English Lutheran Church in Hazen spent two full days of work on ranches in the Faith, SD area on ranches that were hard hit in last October’s early season blizzard. We called it “Neighbors helping Neighbors” – or a “Ranch Mission Trip”. We went because Jesus said being a neighbor is about showing mercy (Luke 10:25-37). Many fences were destroyed by the heavy snow and thousands of cattle perished. The ranch where we stayed had lost 90 head. Three teams worked hard Friday and Saturday repairing fences while two others of our party wired a pole barn. Our faithful cook was also much appreciated as well.
